Hi, i made a gyuto for my mother recently and i played with pin placement in a way i haven t before and wanted to see what everyone else thought about them.

Gorgeous knife, they look good but I find the odd rule looks better to me. I like the small pins a lot, I think if it had just one large pin in the middle it would have looked better. Overall a fantastic build.

thank you! i had considered doing a center pin as you mentioned but i feel like it had to be a larger pin than the rest the small ones being .125 and the larger ones being .25~ and the only size up from there i have right now is half inch and it would have been too big imo. thank you for being so kind though!
 
I like

nice wood -> less / simpler pins
simple wood -> more / fancier pins
hm, interesting thought process about that, i haven't thought about it super intensely but i have walked within that subconsciously. thank you as well :)
 
Looks like a weighty handle, but if used/balanced with a pinch grip, a relief to the front of the scales is a nice touch.

Agree with the above comments about pins. I like simpler and odd number. Also, simple handle with fancy pins, fancy handle with simple pins. Same goes for handle and blade combo. Too busy detracts from the overall work that goes into the details.
