The first knife that I’ve made for myself, haha.

Deep etch 1.2562 core with wrought iron and pure nickel Damascus cladding and an integral yo handle.

The wood is a piece of wood that I got while I was cooking in Singapore. I went to eat at Burnt Ends on my day off and the head chef gave me a piece of the wood that they use for their live-fire cooking. Over a year of letting it dry and acclimate to desert humidity, I finally got to use it - for this petty, as well as for a matching titanium offset spatula.

Finished the final polish on the kiridashis and spatulas.

The kiris are super chonky and polish nicely - nashiji finish is also super comfortable.

Have them on my Etsy for now, and then will be posting remaining ones on bst later.

Thanks to everyone who grabbed a kiri or spatula so far!

I had a couple of blems that weren’t listed on my Etsy yet, which I finished polishing last night.

Just made a BST post with the pair of discounted slight blemish kiris, as well as some of my favorite titanium offsets of the batch available in BST.

This batch of wrought has a ton of figure to it, forged out to size specifically for extra thick and larger ones - this one being over 190mm long. Polished on some jnats from ATT.

I have been needing edge guards for my personal knives after giving all of my old Shihan ones away to friends as gifts, and he stopped making them a while back..

Soooooo…

Will be working on a batch of various sizes and list them on my Etsy soon. What sizes would people like to see?

You'll probably sell the most of 210-225ish, then 240, 180, and then everything else.

I'm in, dang!

Futurama Buy GIF

If you don't mind please make a few 300+ ones, I'll take them!
Bought quite some regular sized guards from Shihan back in the days, and still benefiting from that call. :D
Absolutely in for a couple 300+ ones lol

I'm in for a few in 180; 210; 240!
Years ago I bought a Yoshikane from you that came with a walnut edge guard and handle made by Sheehan.
Sold that knife but made sure to keep the edge guard!

Can you elaborate on how you made these? I’m not trying to steal any business, just curious
My best guess is it’s a kydex material. Apply cork with adhesive, cut to size and round edges, heat/shape over a mold.

I’m in for a bunch once these hit the Etsy, ain’t nobody got time for that 😅

Holding off for right now to do some some destruction testing to make sure that they hold up, as well as try a few different brands for materials.

Once I verify that they’re up to snuff I’ll work on a large batch, with sizes going 5mm over (185x 215x 245, etc.) to ensure that they allow a bit of clearance for small variation in blades.

Goal is to have them quite straight with a slightly narrower gap.

Basically the process. Some custom made jigs and molds that get the right angles and spacing for knives.

Having some practice working with Kydex in the past helps get things consistent.

First small batch of edge protectors are live on Etsy.

Right now have some 210mm and 240mm guards made - both in gray and black (may also make different colors if anyone is interested? Red, green, blue, etc)

They’re oversized by 5mm (215mm and 245mm) to allow for some variation in sizing in knives.

I ended up switching to cork rubber for the lining for higher toughness, water resistance, and a slightly nicer grip to prevent them from falling off.

I just got some more materials, so I’ll be making some more sizes when I have a bit of free time - will be making some 155mm, 185mm, 230mm, 265mm next.

Also made a promo code for KKF users - kkf10 for 10% off if you get 2 or more.

First round of premade ones sold out in a couple of minutes, so I created a made-to-order listing in various sizes for black kydex ones.

I’ll be working on making more tonight and tomorrow and throughout the following week, but they’ll be made to order - so expect approx 7-10 days for shipping, as they’re made at night in my free time.

Thanks everyone!
