I have a knife with the word Kikuichi engraved on the body, but I don't see the brand's signature flower symbol. I emailed Kikuichi Cutlery, but they couldn't get an exact answer either. Does anyone know if this knife is manufactured by Kikuichi Cutlery? Thank you very much

I can't read kanji. But it does get confusing because there are two different companies with very similar names. Kikuichi which sells knives with the chrysanthemum mark and is based in Nara. Kikuichimonji does not use the chrysanthemum and is based in Kyoto.

This is just Kikuichi. Kikuichi-monji would have two more kanji (菊一文字)

The inscription on the handle is 菊一特撰 (Kikuichi Special Select). I have no idea what that's a reference to; perhaps it's some very old line from long ago, as none of their handles today have any inscriptions (at least, not from what I see on their website).

Thank you everyone for the information you have shared 😘
