    Espresso nerds in the house?

I have never heard that term before today, but have seen a few. I just thought they were beans that didn’t get roasted as much (under done, if you will.) and chalked it up to normal variance. Thanks to you I’ll be sure to look for, and remove them, from now on!

    Nanohone diamond resin?

Are these the black "Diamond Resin" ones on his facebook page? I'd love to hear how those work. I think they would be better for the way I sharpen, but will wait to get some feedback before I buy anything else.

    Nanohone diamond resin?

Sorry for the delay. I've tried all 3 of them and my results can best be described as... underwhelmed. I think it's due to my sharpening technique. I sharpen like Bob Kramer, where I do edge leading. I tried that on these but I didn't like the feel (or results) at all. I switched to edge...

    Nanohone diamond resin?

2 quick questions for @ethompson please: I’m getting the 10, 25, and 100 plates mainly for sharpening the cheap stainless knives of friends/family/in-laws when we eat there. With that in mind, would you go from the 100 directly to the 10, or would you use the 25 in between them? Also, would...

    Nanohone diamond resin?

I was hoping you would say that, and thanks for the super quick reply. I decided to pick up the 10, 25, and 100 micron stones so I could try out the set. My plan is to use them like this: 10 mic. - General stropping/maintenance and finishing stone. 25 mic. - Light sharpening 100 mic. -...

    Nanohone diamond resin?

Question for @SolidSnake03 Have you tried the 3 micron DR? I am looking for something to use on kitchen knives that works like a strop to quickly bring back the bite after use. I don't really care about polish, so I think the 1 mic would be too fine, and I currently have the 10 micron...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

It's the only grinder I've used other than the one that was in the Breville. So far I like it a lot! It's simple to use, quick and easy to adjust, looks great, and runs pretty quiet. Also I'm getting within 1/10th of a gram difference in input/output on it. No import fees to ND. All total...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I'm blaming you guys for this! How it started: - Breville Barista Express - Hopper Bellow - Knock Box How it's Going: - Diletta Bello+ (NEW with PID and programmable Pre-Infusion) - Niche Duo (Espresso Burrs ONLY) - Luna Scale - WDT Tool - RDT Spray Bottle - Puck Screens, Chemex Filter...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I’ll YouTube this later, but I’m guessing you measure a setting, then give it a spritz in that container and NOT the grinder, yes? This thread has been incredibly helpful, albeit expensive. I can’t believe how much more there is to this craft, but I’m looking forward to all the fun the...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I’m curious as to what your go-to tools of the trade are. Knowing what you know now, If you were to start all over again from scratch, what would be on your must have a list of tools? I have a knock box, an adjustable distributor/tamper, and a bottomless porta filter. For single dosing, I...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I'm just getting started down this rabbit hole, so I've only tried a few espressos: Death Wish, Kicking Horse, and Lavazza Super Creme being the ones I remeber most. Looks like I have another rabbit hole to go down with coffee, too!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes: I do, or will be single...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I'm familiar with rabbit holes! I never thought the grinder was that big a deal, but after reading this thread it sounds like 70%-80% of the battle! While I don't mind paying up for something that's better quality, or has features I will actually use, I just want to make sure I'm not buying...

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I would say $800 - $1,000, but I would love to be around half that number, so if there are some *REALLY* good models in that $300-$600 range I would love to hear about them! So far it looks like the Sette 270 is a front runner with a few of you using that model. 😉👍

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I just saw this thread from the daily email - Talk about great timing! I’m looking to get a new grinder. Any suggestions, or favorites to look at? This is strictly a home setup with my Breville machine. Thanks!
