Removing black color of engraving. Kagekiyo Ginsan

that is hot stamped in... the black in there is similar to a kurouchi finish. You'd need abrasive of some kind to do that, but its tricky to do without affecting the surrounding areas.

    Kagekiyo Ginsan Smiths

i think you may be wrong about them being the same sharpener, though nishida-san does both wide bevel and non-wide bevel. He does mainly do wide bevel now, and myojin-san seems to be responsible for the non-wide bevel stuff. Can vary from order to order and request to request. edit- didn't...

Service Request - Rounding Spine and Choil

happy to do rounding of the spine and choil of other knives... however, if there's significant refinishing or other work like that, we cant take on that kind of time consuming work at the moment. Rounding the spine and choil on its own, however, is no prob.

    Recommend me a craftsman - spa/thinning

We are just limiting the kind of time-consuming work we take on, in order to be able to keep regular sharpening services running more consistently. Every time we open up for thinning and refinishing projects, we'll get a ton of them in just a day or two, and they can end up taking up to 2-3...

i use the big pink stone fixer we sell... its quite fast relative to other methods I've tried

What are your favorite silicon carbide stones?

i think people are more likely to have issues with diamond stones from not being flat than any other factor effecting the life of the stone overall Edit: specifically vitrified ones like what i was talking about

What are your favorite silicon carbide stones?

just to give a sense of relative use, the current 800 I'm using still has about 50% of its life or so left (maybe a bit more), and its been used to do rather serious sharpening on about 8k knives as a conservative estimate. I'm pretty sure i would have gone through at least 5 king neo doing...

Does ashi make a <100 parer?

i dont know if its an exclusive, as often times the things i special order show up all over the place, but it is something we special order from them. We could order shorter, but it would take a long time and demand for those short knives is really not that high all in all... especially because...

Effective method to remove patina/stain on mirror polish yanagi?

funny that the comment below the above message said he went for the cheapest cotton pads... i tried that, but they fall apart too quickly. I went for nicer ones... currently use delon+ from amazon.

Effective method to remove patina/stain on mirror polish yanagi?

cotton pads... a little bit of both in terms of motion... no visible scratches from it so it doesn't really matter as much

Effective method to remove patina/stain on mirror polish yanagi?

been using flitz and simichrome for many years now... no scratching or patina. BKF will do that for sure, but flitz, simichrome, and similar do not, and work quite well for cleaning up mirror polished blades. If you need to actually do some material removal, then abrasives (diamond or...
