    Chisel Hoops

Now that I am retired I am resurrecting the wood shop. I have some Oiuchi chisels I bought 40 years age. (Did I really just say that?) I need to source some missing hoops - the rings that go around the top of the handle. Does anyone have a clue as where to get these? Thanks, Seth

What is your go-to pot or pan? What are you missing most?

Tin lined copper is my favorite for fish and meat sauté. de Buyer steel for eggs. I was lucky to trip over a local cooking store going out of business. I wish I had had $10,000 - their collection was amazing including restaurant sized copper. I managed about 6 pieces that I use to this day (30...

    Vaseline for knife handle

I like to use a wiping varnish or thinned spar; wipe on 3 coats, light sanding in between if necessary. Final sanding very fine paper. After a day, I top coat with renaissance wax and buff. This is a little more labor intensive but I like the results.

Is it worth refinishing an end grain board?

I just re-did a 24" boardsmith with a 22" plane. Good planes this size are expensive unfortunately but with our sharpening skills it is a quick job; took about an hour. The heavy plane helps push through the end grain though I would imagine any sharp plane would work well if properly adjusted to...

    WTS Two Little Shigs

Yes, I am keeping the kiteiji version of the 180 and I love it. I can't really say which I like more. On the 270s, I kept the kasumi and sold the other. The 180 kasumi has a great feel in hand - hate to see it go.

    WTS Shig 240

258 grams balanced at the heal. I have a 270 shig kasumi with original handle at 278 grams...for comparison. Obviously the weight is from the denser handle (ironwood). I would think that this is a user type knife rather than collector because of the custom handle. I love the feel of this knife...

    WTS Shig 240

I got this from Marko back when he was primarily a handle maker, about eight years back. Some home use, part time drawer queen. PM or post questions; I'm not that great at photo posting.... Probably sharpened half dozen times over the years but in very good condition. (I also have some chris...
