Idk jostling can definitely destroy the tip without obvious damage. But agree it should be 100% on the seller. People just suck at packing

    That d*mn courier thread.

Another “no one was home” when I was home the whole day. Thanks DHL

    Scammer alert

Got a suspicious message. 5 minutes later, another near identical. Turns out he is a known quantity by googling. I reported but I thought I’d warn. https://www.hkpro.com/threads/2024-scammer-alert.573163/

    Which would you pick

The Kono limited should be the same as the Yoshi. The choice is clear: Yoshi unless you rock chop. Togashi if you do. Isamitsu is good, but maybe order direct instead. But for a first knife, I’d save the money.

I’ve been missing my 210 since I sold it. Forgive me father, for I have sinned… the price was too crazy

It’s probably thin BTE but because it’s thick spined I would recommend takamura (I’ve had both btw)

The Shinkiro has very poor fit and finish actually. The spine is extremely square and the KU feels very very rough. Completely different from Sumiiro or the nashiji SLD line The grind is good though.

    WTT Yanick 220mm Gyuto

    I’ll give it one bump

    WTB Watanabe 165mm nakiri

I’m also down to trade my 180 for it potentially

Kagekiyo attribution isn’t stable though. Because they can name a smith but there’s no guarantee it wasn’t made by a different one a year ago. They should really give it a catchy name instead

The one CKC posted is Maillet I’m pretty sure

Anyone know about this maker? PS if you order from Syoukon and it’s damaged in transit due to their poor packing, you will have to pay a restocking fee and return shipping

There’s no attribution in a Kagekiyo is the problem and it changes over time. FM is not Nakagawa btw. The only Tanaka Myojin combo in a gyuto profile that is attributed is the Kama Asa, which isn’t in stock either. On an unrelated note, it’s interesting you have FMs being produced slowly...

WTB Wakui or Yoshikane 270mm sujihiki

Pretty good option but it’s not stainless actually

WTB Wakui or Yoshikane 270mm sujihiki

Ideally stainless clad blue 2, but white 2 is okay too

    WTT Yanick 220mm Gyuto

I won his drawing and the new one has better specs for me so letting this one go. It’s factory edge with some patina. Pretty light usage. Trade value is 1100. Specs here: https://carbonknifeco.com/products/yanick-puig-bocote-vintage-iron-gyuto-220mm My ideal trade goal is probably the right...

I would not say the Yugiri has more desirable specs. It’s a k tip and relatively short lengthwise. I don’t think you can translate “desirable” specs like that anyway.

Double beveled debas exist. Also mioroshi debas exist. Nothing really amiss here
