WTS A2 or M2 Gyuto Batch

This sounds very reasonable and I was going to suggest the same. I’ve seen so many mass drops like this fail because the maker gets overwhelmed with all the opinions and minor differences that make batch processing not possible. The whole point of something like this is to be able to streamline...

WTS A2 or M2 Gyuto Batch

The reason wood might be important is because it might affect balance. Of course you could compensate with the tang length, thickness, but then the whole streamlining goes out the window if you had to mess with each. On the other hand I don't make knives so maybe I am overthinking it. To me...

WTS A2 or M2 Gyuto Batch

How heavy/dense is redgum? Blackwood is heavy and big oak is usually not as much. What is the thickness of the M2 stock by the way?

    [Review] Naniwa Diamond Stones

I've had good results with Naniwa Nagura 220. It is SiC and cleans all sorts of stones well for me.

Wait, I thought he was a carpenter or some such.

No problem at all, good idea, won’t work here though. I have also seen it in other places though.

    WTS Red Flags on BST

BST is about selling and buying. Any other comments unrelated to the selling or buying are unnecessary. In this particular case the prospective buyer is new, so no issues with him asking odd questions. Odd because the history of the line coming together should be asked in a DM or in a different...

what do you guys use for pocket knives?

The polishing guys are just nuts🤣 That part of the hobby has very little to do with knives, or rather with cutting. Perfect place for it in kitchen knife space since there is so much steel/iron to deal with. Part of the reason wrought, bloomery, etc are so popular. It is similar to how most...

what do you guys use for pocket knives?

Sure guys here can get too wrapped up over small stuff too, but at least heat treat and grinds matter for cutting performance. Lock design is not that important for cutting and as long as it works well it is fine. I even have folders without locks, oh the horror, how I still have all my digits...

    WTS Red Flags on BST

OK, I agree, but I also think that all of the "I wish I could buy this..." or "If only it was longer, shorter, taller, etc." comments are unnecessary, I have made these myself though. Any comment in a BST thread that is not specifically asking about the item being sold is unnecessary to me...

    WTS Red Flags on BST

I am just trying to understand if comments like these would qualify if they were made before the sale. I am not singling you out or pointing at intent, I just used first 2 comments of yours that I thought were in the same theme. I thought that using someone else's comments would be inappropriate...

what do you guys use for pocket knives?

Folder guys are worse than kitchen knife guys, they will argue about the smallest details like if a detent should be ceramic or if titanium liner lock interface should have a steel surface, etc. In the mean time the few that actually use their knives as knives and not fidget toys, just use the...

    WTS Red Flags on BST

Hmm. Not really an answer. So the claim is that people promote knives of their friends to get them sold. The concern is that they misrepresent the knives or that newer members will be caught up in the hype and buy something they don't want? I am just trying to understand the issue here and why...

    WTS Red Flags on BST

I am not even sure why or if this is a problem and how this is a red flag, unless a group of people are scamming together. Doesn't seem to be the case here.

what do you guys use for pocket knives?

Cruwear is used in kitchen knives, sometimes, but maybe you are thinking of Zwear, same steel made by a different factory. Rex 45 is slightly different and is very close to hap40 which is used a lot in kitchen knives. All these as well as M4, MagnaCut, 4V, etc are fantastic steels and are...

    Show your newest knife buy

The price on his website seems to be in AUD, but it doesn’t change to USD when I enter my address or are the prices in USD. Just curious.

Me neither and my overview can't really describe how much fun it was.

Thank you, that's my brother's and him making it. The piece of steel it is laying on is what we started with. Pretty amazing and very satisfying.

    Took an intro to bladesmithing...

This weekend I did something I've been wanting to do for a while and the only regret I have is that I didn't do it much sooner. It was my brother's birthday a few month ago and this year instead of giving him another knife I've decided to go with an experience instead. He started this a few...
