    Espresso nerds in the house?

Oh I didn’t really mean any offense, I envy whatever your set up is because the nurri remains a dream machine for me. As a household that only does 2-3 coffees a day, and frequently sporadically through the day it’s just not a practical coffee solution for me. I think with 1-2 more coffee...

Sous vide/warm brew is infinitely superior to cold brew imo. None of the woodiness from over extraction with long cold brew times, none of the acidity of higher temp brews.

Yup. Tried close to every non-chain cage near me now. My shots were better than what I’ve gotten from them within 10 shots of getting my machine. Espresso, is as much as sharpening an art. Cafes unfortunately pay artist rates, which means people who are good enough or passionate enough at the...

Fun fact, they actually can and do grow from seeds. Not super common to find them in cultivated varieties, but they are viable. Fruit with seeds ends up lower quality due to more energy going to seed production. The old plantation owners of Hawaii actually banned hummingbird importation...

If you ate a pineapple whole would it grow seeds inside you or are tomato’s ahead of the curve on the growing-inside-living-things-to-initiate-a-late2000’s-scifimovie-plot?

    Espresso nerds in the house?

I’ve been a big fan of the 9barista. Started with that and the 1zpresso k ultra (I’d probably start with the j ultra next time). Can go from deciding I want a shot to drinking it in 4-7 minutes, foot print is about the size of a small moka pot. It’s a heat powered spring lever, so pretty fool...

Definitely no snickers. Underlying flavor seems ok, but overridden by extreme saltiness. My understanding is that it’s a form of bitterness which some google-fu shows as being 1) Terroir, apparently non-stellar Indonesian beans can have it. Being as these are Brazilian I’m assuming shouldn’t...

Brave man, saying the P word after the debacle in the other thread. English needs to generate a better name for plant based milk alternatives. No problem with them, they can taste good in the right application while allowing those blessed with inferior micro biomes a lactose free alternative...

For small bags, that seems about right from what I’ve seen. If you subscribe, buy larger bags (5 pound range) and aren’t going to the extremely light roast cult coffee of the season, I think it gets down to around 16-18/lb region. Can’t tell you if it’s worth it. Tried 5 beans from 3 roasters...

Eh, 4-5 years ago they said the same thing about vanilla. Then there actually were some massive hits to the harvest, and vanilla bean prices actually started costing a few bucks a piece (which made the recipes talking about scraping a bean in, feel hilariously out of touch when the synthetic...

Ironically that’s why I went the espresso route instead of pour over. 😂 Flavors of bitter/sour make a lot more sense to me than dealing with nuanced tasting notes and the faff of pouring which just reminds me of gongfu tea which while I admire the aesthetic of just seems like too mental work for me.

i taste hints of orange with the peel or grapefruit and i hate that you all were kinda right about coffee not being 100% coffee flavor creamsicle remains a wildly optimistic way to describe it. even if I could coax sweetness out without losing the citrus it’d just be a sweet orange with no...

6043 Yeah I was just as shocked lmao. I’ve made my stance on censorship clear before, but I’m still kinda shocked that met the criteria of something that someone felt needed squashed. I had to go back to reread our posts from the archive created by the forums autogenerated emails and it’s...

Yeah water is a massive rabbit hole to go down. If you really go down it apparently you can use different waters to accentuate different beans. With that being said, I also use pavlis. Simple recipe, tastes fine, and most importantly prevents machine scale build up. The only downside is you...
